This week's highlights, as of 10 April 2022
The main pointis the magnitude of the changes that are taking place before our eyes.
The more time passes, the more clearly we see that the decade 2020 will be very different from the decade before it. Not just because of the emergence of photovoltaics or renewables, but because of the disruptions that have been introduced over the last six months. Among the major factors of change is the sustained rise in the price of electricity and gas, which will have unpredictable repercussions on the perception of the population, on economic competitiveness and on the respective wealth of the different regional blocs.

This week's highlights, as of 3 April
The main point is the conflation of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis with the climate crisis and the rejection of fossil fuels. This creates, in synthesis, the miracle cure, photovoltaics

Highlights of the week to 20 March
The key pointis the lack of understanding of the official figures for panel production in the year, their year-on-year increase to be compared with Chinese domestic demand.

Highlights of the week to 13 March 2022
The main pointis the change of era we are living through, which will be lasting. The pandemic might have been thought to be a parenthesis, but it has triggered a change through a dramatic rise in commodity prices and disrupted the global economy far more permanently than could be envisaged in 2020.

The more time passes, the more clearly we see that the decade 2020 will be very different from the decade before it. Among the major factors of change is the sustained rise in the price of electricity and gas, which will have unpredictable repercussions on the perception of the population, on economic competitiveness and on the respective wealth of the different regional blocs.
To reverse the trend, sellers of gas, electricity, or oil would have to agree to lower their prices, but the pandemic has shown that commodities are becoming scarce and expensive. Since there has been a generalisation of price increases, it is therefore a fundamental movement. We have to adapt, but we have to be able to change our behaviour to do so
A look at the consequences of energy prices
1st incidental point1st ancillary point: The consequences of the price of energy:
The geostrategic analysis of energy was well presented by Mr. Indra Overland: The war in Ukraine is a factor in the major energy transformation
A more economic study: The energy crisis in Europe and the demand for renewable energy
According to DNV, the energy situation cannot change quickly, but it must be recognised: DNV has little faith in energy change in Europe by 2030
Finally an analysis (Ember's) that is not catastrophic, or doomsday: According to Ember, a 25% growth in solar installations is sufficient to stay within 1.5°Celsius
2nd ancillary point: There is a lot to be said about the best approach to impose oneself economically on a market. The Europeans have chosen: For the renaissance of the industry, Europe is banking on new technologies
3rd point (subsidiary) :

Highlights of the week to 6 March 2022
The most important point is the war in Ukraine, not because it is in Europe but because of what it reveals about our situation, our behaviour, our failings. These failures had already appeared with the silicon shortage. Even if it is recent,

What to remember from the week to 27 February
Silicon deliveries will not be able to increase much in 2022. The imbalance will grow. The silicon shortage will increase during the year. Prices will rise even more. Until the production price of solar electricity has risen above the cost of the kilowatt hour from fossil alternatives! This case is possible.
It is developed in A look at the expected increase in the price of silicon
This is the focus of this week's news
Other points to remember:
1st:
Asia is a big draw for European developers. IHS Markit estimates that half of the world's installations over the next five years will be in the region
Portuguese renewable energy company EDPR moves to Singapore: Portugal's EDPR has acquired Singapore's Sunseap
In the same week Lightsource BP is looking for power plants to build in Asia. To reach 25 GW installed by 2025, it has opened an office in Taiwan, plans to open one in Singapore soon in Singapore, then in China, Vietnam
2nd point to remember:
- Tongwei's capacity expansion plans (+37% in 2022) will outpace market growth. All the big players are doing the same. And Tongwei's 2021 accounts Tongwei in 2021: strong growth
3rd point to remember:
- The five biggest players in the various stages of photovoltaic manufacturing hold 80% of the Chinese and therefore global market. Eighteen months ago, this 80% was held by ten companies! This is an indication of accelerating concentration. Chinese production in 2021, in value and volume

In terms of photovoltaics, France is on the move. If we should not rely too much on the EPP as the driving force of the installations (we saw it in the Law on Programming, which was not respected, cf. The main lines of the EPP are defined; The EPP presented by the Ministry of Energy Transition ; Presentation of the EPP by Tecsol. We don't see why the next law would be better realised), solar energy is developing. On the one hand,
