Update on ENR installations in France at the end of September
The total capacity of the French RE power plant (wind, solar, hydro and bioenergy) was 58,759 MW as of 30 September 2021, up
of 2,876 MW in the first three quarters of 2021 (3,543 MW in the last twelve months, i.e. + 6.0% in one year). This figure is already higher than the annual record of 2017 (which amounted to 2,757 MW) in three months less. In the third quarter of 2021, 887 MW of new installations were connected to the metropolitan electricity networks, with solar and wind power accounting for 621 MW and 279 MW respectively (Editor's note: Between them, this amounts to 900 MW, not 887 MW!).
Renewable energies accounted for 26.6% of electricity consumption in mainland France in the third quarter of 2021 (and 26% over the last twelve months) by producing 25.7 TWh of renewable electricity.Renewable energies contributed 26.6% of electricity consumption in mainland France in the third quarter of 2021 (and 26% over the last twelve months) by producing 25.7 TWh of renewable electricity, a figure that is 9.4% higher than in the same quarter last year.
The solar park capacity amounts to 12,329 MW as of 30 September 2021, with 621 MW connected in the third quarter of 2021. Over the last twelve months, 2,162 MW have been connected. By the end of 2023, the EPP aims to have 20,100 MW, a target that is currently 60.6% achieved.
