Europe to benefit from a new solar boom
After several years of stagnation, the European solar market grew in 2017. The outlook for the next five years continues to be favourable: an annual average of
14 GW will be installed between 2018 and 2022, two-thirds of which will be in just six countries. Feed-in tariffs are gradually being replaced by auctions. Lower installation costs are leading to the development of projects without subsidies, especially in southern Europe.
Installations in Europe will increase from 111 GW to 182 GW in 2022, i.e. an increase of 64% in five years.
