Around 90% of new homes built in the Netherlands last year are not connected to the gas network in the service areas of network operators Liander, Enexis Netbeheer and Stedin. Households are switching to all-electric as a sustainable alternative.

The Swiss government has launched a consultation on the measures to be implemented to support renewable energies in order to simplify the procedure for obtaining a permit for solar installations on building facades and during construction.

The European Court of Auditors has criticised Member States' subsidies for fossil fuels. It believes that current tax rates do not reflect the extent of pollution from these different energy sources. They have remained relatively constant over the last decade.
