Companies want to acquire photovoltaic assets. Their purchases quadrupled in the first quarter compared to last year,
says Mercom Capital. They reached $8.1 billion (compared to $1.9 billion last year, when the coronavirus was rampant). This is confirmed by the 14.6 GW of solar assets acquired during the first quarter.
Venture capital financing reached $1bn (+33% in one year).
Debt financing jumped to $4.3bn (up from $1.8m last year).
There were 20 M&A deals, 15 of which involved downstream solar companies.
There were 82 acquisitions of solar projects with a total capacity of 14.6 GW. Developers and independent power producers were the most active, followed by investment companies and funds.
