New price record on a $0.024/W auction in Abu Dhabi

JinkoSolar and Marubeni offered the lowest bid in Abu Dhabi at $0.024/watt. The prices on offer are steadily decreasing: there was $0.0299/W in Dubai in May, $0.0291/W in Chile presented by Solarpack. This drop in prices is due to the decrease in the price of panels (by 30% in 2016), which is the consequence of overproduction. There is also the 12% drop in materials (BoS) in the second part of the year. The price of one dollar per watt could be reached at the end of 2017 in a few low price markets. This price decline comes much faster than commentators (the former president of First Solar, for example) had expected.
