Can you imagine taking a trip in an airship?
German researchers have calculated how long it would take to fly from London to New York in solar airships. The 5,570-kilometre journey could be covered in
two days and one night. The return journey would take three days and two nights. The optimum route varies according to the season. Researchers believe that these journey times are suitable for transporting most goods. It would also be suitable for passengers, as there is more room in an airship than in a plane.
Highly efficient solar cells and extremely light batteries still need to be developed to make such an aircraft.

Editor's note While the text is not particularly interesting as such, it does show that alternatives to sea or air transport are possible, while acknowledging that the technical conditions have not yet been met.
