IRENA presents its figures for 2022
At the end of 2022, global renewable energy capacity amounted to 3,372 gigawatts (GW). The increase was 9.6% over 2021. 83% of all new generation capacity was renewable energy, according to IRENA.
Renewable energy continues to grow at record levels despite global uncertainties. This confirms the downward trend in fossil fuel generation. Solar + wind accounted for 90% of all new renewable capacity in 2022. New solar PV installations in 2022 were 191 GW.
