Study for a concentrator at less than 0.10 € per kWh. Sirea is participating

The European Mosaic project aims to produce electricity with a solar concentrator at less than €0.10 per kWh. A 300 kW prototype is being completed at the NationalCentre for Renewable Energies (CENER) in Sanguesa, Spain.

Based on a parallel motion system guided by eight cables, the tracker will control the positioning of the mobile receiver. The aim is to collect the concentrated solar radiation above the mirror field.

The plant consists of a fixed spherical concentrator, arranged in a semi-Fresnel configuration, and a mobile receiver with a closed loop drive system. This architecture reduces the number of moving parts as a whole, which reduces the cost of the system, while maintaining high levels of solar concentration.

The tracker will be commissioned in a few weeks. The ideal positioning of the receiver will then be tested.

The Tarn-based company Sirea, which specialises in energy and industrial automation, was responsible for all the electrical studies and also developed the plant's control and command system.
