Solar installations in the United States in 2019.

The United States installed 13.3 GW of solar power in 2019. This is the second time that PV is more important than all other sources of production, according to SEIA and Wood Mackenzie. It reaches a market share of

39.8%, slightly more than gas generators (32%). This is partly due to the success of residential installations. In total, the United States has 76 GW of solar power, compared with 100 GW of wind power.

These 13.3 GW break down as follows: * power plants for electricity companies and businesses (8.4 GW in the year and 48 GW in total installed). Solar power purchase agreements were concluded for a price between $0.016 and $0.035 per kWh depending on the State.

* In residential installations with 2.8 GW installed. California alone installed 1 GW. Solar has benefited from power outages caused by forest fires. It has often been coupled with residential energy storage. Florida was distinguished by the specific characteristics of the installations and not by tax advantages.

* In commercial and industrial installations for 2.1 GW.

For 2020, photovoltaic installations in the United States are expected to increase by almost half (+47%) to 20 GW due to the end of federal tax incentives, but this forecast was made before the coronavirus epidemic which could limit installations.
