Spain wants to develop a photovoltaic industry

The Spanish government is allocating 750 million euros to encourage the production of equipment and components for solar panels, batteries and electrolysers, among other technologies. One of the aims of the programme is to strengthen Spain's national manufacturing industry and its strategic autonomy, as well as that of Europe.

Editor's note We cannot regret that there are plans to build photovoltaic plants. They are welcome. But it's hard to see how they will stand up to low Chinese prices and the determination of Asian manufacturers to eliminate all competition. They are announcing this for Chinese silicon production. They will do the same for European panel manufacturers. Meyer Burger quickly realised this when it withdrew from production in Europe.
