Editor's note After three European silicon manufacturers, it is now the turn of panel assemblers to be insolvent. It is the first, but far from the last.

We can only congratulate Meyer Burger on his flair: instead of putting his trust in Europe's leaders, he preferred to have a business on the other side of the Atlantic, which makes him less dependent on what happens on the Old Continent. It just goes to show that trusting Europe is not (always!) the right choice!
