Comparison of PV installed on the roof of a building with a roof covered with vegetation
Australians have compared a solar installation on a roof with a green roof (covered with vegetation). In the latter case, solar production increased by up to
107% during peak periods. "As solar panels heat above 25?Green roofs moderate roof temperatures: the green roof reduced surface temperatures by up to 9.6°C for the solar panels and 6.9°C for the roof surfaces.
The green roof also provided shelter for more species of birds and insects than the conventional roof, reduced rainwater run-off and insulated the building from extreme temperatures.
