The 12th barometer of renewable electric energy in France

The 12th French Renewable Energy Barometer (2021) reports that the French renewable energy portfolio has grown by 4 GW. More than half of this is from solar,

while wind power is only increasing by 1 GW, its usual rate, which is twice as low as defined by the multi-annual energy plan.

France missed its consumption target of 27% renewable electricity in 2020. This level will not be reached in 2021 either. France is falling further behind, whereas all the energy scenarios published at the end of 2021 (in particular those of RTE and Ademe) highlighted the need for large-scale development of renewable energy.the need for large-scale development of electric renewable energies in the medium and long term,

Editor's note: All the players fought during the drafting of the multi-annual energy programme to obtain the highest possible objective. The result is very French: we have an objective, but we have not put the means in front of it. As a result, wind power does not achieve its objective. It remains to be seen whether the number of solar installations will be as high in 2022 as in 2021. In the future, the most likely thing will be that people will say they are sorry that the targets are not being met, but no one will be concerned about why and, above all, how to remedy this...
