Manufacturers' highlights: Tongwei-Trina factory starts; JinkoSolar invests in silicon and launches panel

Joint plant between Tongwei (65%) and Trina Solar (35%) to produce wafers and cells

210 mm (M12 size) and 15 GW capacity started production in Chengdu.

The production of silicon and silicon rods in Baotou and Leshan was announced.

Editor's note: The association between Tongwei and Trina makes it possible to bring together the technical and financial resources to cover the entire sector, and in particular the production of silicon, which is currently in short supply.

JinkoSolar will invest RMB 450 million ($70.3 million) in Tongwei Solar's subsidiary. It will help finance a 100,000 ton high purity silicon plant. In exchange, JinkoSolar will receive 30,000 tonnes of silicon per year. This follows up on the information from last July.
