Financing of solar companies in the first half of the year
Corporate financing in the global solar sector in the first half of 2021 has almost tripled compared to the previous year, according to Mercom Capital Group.
Financing amounted to $13.5 billion in the first half of 2021, compared to $4.6 billion in the same period last year. Solar project acquisitions in the first half of 2021 reached 39.3 GW, up from 14.7 GW in the same period last year.
The 54 solar M&A deals in H1 2021 more than doubled compared to the same period last year. Venture capital funding reached $1.6 billion in 26 deals, up from $210 million in 14 deals in H1 2020.
In the first half of 2021, debt financing reached $8.2 billion in 32 deals, up from $3.7 billion in 17 deals in the first half of 2020.
