RE supplied a quarter of French consumption

Renewable energies covered more than a quarter of the winter consumption of mainland France.

634 MW of solar power were connected in the first quarter, bringing the total to 10,990 MW by 31 March 2021. Photovoltaic electricity production in the first three months of the year amounted to 2.4 TWh, an increase of 13% compared with the same quarter in 2020, thanks to the new capacities connected. The rate of coverage of electricity consumption by solar energy was thus 1.7% for this quarter (2.8% over the last twelve months).
