In brief companies: Total in Iraq, Neoen to build 450 MW in Australia, a Canadian in Spain

Total has signed an agreement with the Iraqi Oil Ministry to develop a series of energy projects in the country,

including 1 GW of solar photovoltaic energy. Total will build four major energy projects in the country, including gas processing units.

The authorities of New South Wales (Australia) have authorised Neoen to install 350 MW of solar production and 100 MW of storage in the Riverina region. The project will cost US$ 485 million. Commercial operations are expected to start in mid-2022 and produce around 800 GWh of electricity per year.

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) established Renewable Power Capital (RPC) in 2020, which has recently formed a joint venture with Spanish developer Benbros Solar to develop a 3.4 GW portfolio of 14 solar projects.

In 2020, CPP Investments acquired US renewable energy developer Pattern Energy for $6.1 billion.
