Recycling of lithium-ion batteries must be planned for from the design stage.
For the moment, the wide variety of battery architecture requires pyrometallurgy (heating) in order to extract the cobalt. To simplify recycling and thus reduce its cost, various specialists recommend reducing the number of components.
