India's Adani, the world's largest owner of production assets
India's Adani is reported to have become the world's largest owner of operating and contracted solar power generation assets. It manages 12.3 GW. This is more than the capacity installed by the entire US solar industry in 2019 alone.
Adani is one of the most integrated solar players in the world. It manufactures its solar cells and panels, develops projects, builds them and organises their financing. It owns and operates its assets through its asset management platform. According to Mercom Capital, Adani is about 70% larger than the world's second largest solar power company.
The company started its development activity in 2015. It had only two solar power plants in 2017. It has grown exponentially in just a few years. It intends to participate in an increasingly decarbonised world, its decentralisation, distributed and available water, green hydrogen, and micro-agriculture.
The declared objective is to reach 25 GWp of renewable energy by 2025.

Editor's note: Adani is an example of the rapid growth of Indian companies. All of a sudden, we see that they have become the largest in the world. Soon, we will be assailed by Indian panels just as we are also assailed by Chinese products.
