Opinion of T. Lepercq on storage
A round table organised by Energy Storage Europe on 15 March looked at the best way to maintain the electricity grid:
is it to add energy storage to the network or to extend the network? There was complete disagreement among stakeholders.
T. Lepercq felt that storage means more flexibility and goes beyond the simple batteries supporting the network during peak periods. According to him, the performance of storage will improve and its costs will fall; deployment will develop; research will develop. Mr Lepercq added that there is a virtuous circle. "Investing in good business models is more attractive than investing in technology.
