875 MW of solar power will be installed in France in 2017, bringing the total power to 8 GW.

In France in 2017, 875 MW of solar power will be installed, an increase of

49% over 2016. This allows the installed capacity to rise above the 8 GW mark (to 8,044 MW). Last year's growth was made possible by a strong fourth quarter, during which more than 394 MW of new photovoltaic systems were deployed. Approximately two thirds of last year's new capacity of 577 MW came from PV installations larger than 250 kW.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition reports that solar production in 2017 has increased by 12% to 8.6 TWh. This covered 1.8% of French electricity demand (1.6% in 2016).
