GE creates a division specialising in storage
The American GE (General Electric) has created an autonomous unit within the GE Power division. This unit will have dedicated funds to pursue storage projects around the world. This decision
reflects a recognition of the growing value of networked storage in a group that already dominates the wind and gas generator market. But it is also a new turnaround after previous attempts that did not work as expected.
The specialist subsidiary Current focuses on energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers, while GE Power focuses on "storage and micro-grids", targeting a slightly different customer base.
