135 MW in Spain in 2017

In 2017, Spain has installed 135 MW, which corresponds to an increase of

145% over 2016 (55 MW). This brings the installed capacity to 4.8 GW. They are mainly intended for self-consumption and off-grid use: in many sectors, such as agriculture, wine, food processing, distribution and hotels, several companies have decided to opt for PV technology, because it contributes to a considerable reduction in energy costs while increasing competitiveness.

The volume installed is expected to increase significantly after the Spanish government allocated around 3.9 GW of PV capacity at an auction held at the end of July 2017.
