The top five panel suppliers in the world in 2016
On the basis of deliveries in the third quarter and the companies' forecasts for the end of the year, JinkoSolar will become the world's leading producer of panels in 2016 with more than
of 6.6 GW to be delivered (it was already at the end of the first quarter and firsthalf of 2016), whereasTrina Solar, the No. 1 in 2015, is only around 6.4 GW (the company has not given a target for the last quarter. This is based on earlier forecasts and the fact that Trina has significant opportunities in China where construction is declining).
The top five companies in the ranking are growing faster than the market, even faster than the next five companies or the top 20. This year's rankings are the same as in 2015, with no new entrants emerging.
Canadian Solar, which was in second place in 2015, lost it at the end of the third quarter of 2016. Remaining in the same places JA Solar and Hanwha Q Cells are only 0.1 GW apart. Hanwha Q Cells could find itself in 4th place at the end of the year.
There is a big gap (about 2 GW of sales) between fifth and sixth!
Placed in sixth place at the end of the first half of the year, GCL Systèmes Intégrés (GCL SI) suffered from the sharp slowdown in demand in China in the third quarter. This weakness distanced it from Hanwha Q Cells. The Chinese company would have to significantly increase its sales in the fourth quarter to maintain its sixth place. Indeed, First Solar with 2.8 GW to 2.9 GW could take this 6th place from him.
