Energy renovation of a building with major savings
Six Swiss companies were commissioned to renovate a church that was consuming 80,800 kWh per year. They installed new thermal insulation (on the roof, walls and basement terrace), triple-glazed windows, heat pumps and a photovoltaic system.
integrated into the roof, supplying almost 450,000 kWh per year
After renovation, the church's energy consumption, including heat pumps, is only 33,100 kWh, or 41% of its previous needs, which means that a surplus of 16,200 kWh can be sold to the grid.

Editor's note: What's important in this article is the gains achieved by energy renovation. The article doesn't go far enough, because it doesn't indicate the cost of the renovation or how long it will take to pay back the investment. The return on investment is often the most convincing.
