Fifteen companies join forces for a solar farm project in the North Sea!

Fifteen European companies have joined forces with Oceans of Energy to deploy a 150 MW solar farm project in the North Sea.

In Europe, the Netherlands has been one of the most advanced countries in the development of offshore solar energy on the continent, with a first call for tenders

last year to increase solar capacity in the North Sea.

Oceans of Energy has long been working on offshore solar in the Dutch North Sea when it first deployed a solar farm in 2019 that weathered several storms a year later. This was followed by two other projects in the North Sea - one of which is located alongside an offshore wind farm - and the world's first commercial hybrid offshore solar wind project last year, with a capacity of 0.5 MW.last year, with 0.5 MW of capacity to be installed between the turbines of CrossWin's 759 MW Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm.

Editor's note: The number of participants in this project (150 companies) indicates the importance of offshore wind turbine installations. Intuitively, it is believed that only the sea will leave enough space to produce enough energy to meet needs, and that space on land is now limited.
