What is the frequency and duration of "energy droughts" in the United States?
Researchers have studied the frequency and duration of "energy droughts" in the United States, i.e. when the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow. They found that these droughts can last
a week in some regions. Other sources of energy, such as batteries, are then needed.
Researchers have discovered that energy droughts occur at all times of the year in various regions, with varying frequencies and durations. In some regions, such as Texas, energy droughts are frequent but only last a few hours. In other regions, such as California, they can last longer but are less frequent.

Editor's note This research is interesting at a time when we want to move to all renewable energies. We need to know what we're committing ourselves to by focusing on solar and wind power. If the work has been done in the United States, it should also be done in Europe, to find out how long the energy drought lasts.
