Midsummer invests in thin films in Sweden and in cells and panels in Italy
Sweden's Midsummer receives €32 million from the European Union to build a 200 MW CIGS thin-film production unit in Sweden.
The plant is expected to produce thin cells suitable for European roofs in the first quarter of 2026.
The company announced in March that the perovskite-CIGS solar cell had achieved an efficiency of 24.9%.
Midsummer is also building a solar cell and panel production plant in Italy, independent of the Swedish factory.
