China could install 150 GW of photovoltaic power by 2023

China could install 150 GW of photovoltaic panels by 2023, according to Rystad Energy. It makes this forecast

15.8 billion in PV construction in thefirst half of the year.

The consultancy estimates that Chinese solar capacity will double over the next three years, from 500 GW in 2023 to 1,000 GW by the end of 2026, due to "a significant increase in large-scale projects" under a national programme launched in June 2021.

Editor's note: The economic advantages of renewable energies explain this desire to expand photovoltaics. There are no climate concerns, unlike in Europe.

These 150 GW represent almost 40% of the world's installations.
