In brief R & D: reflective membrane, additive for perovskite, electron transport in perovskite, Fraunhofer ISE
The Greek Thrace Group has developed a reflective and permeable membrane
made from polypropylene resins and coated with a thin white layer that reflects ultraviolet (UV) rays. It claims that the membrane has increased the energy yield of a large-scale pilot plant by 5%.

Scientists have developed an additive. It forms covalent bonds with the organic materials in a perovskite solar cell, resulting in fewer defects and significantly reduced degradation. Cells treated with the additive retained 98.6% of their initial performance after 1,000 hours of "1 sun" lighting tests. Reference cells produced without treatment had lost 35% of their initial performance after just 200 hours under the same lighting.

An international team has used indium sulphide as an electron transport material in a perovskite solar cell. The result is fewer defects and improved performance. The solar cell achieved a power conversion of 20.1%.

The Fraunhofer ISE is building a technology platform to conduct research on typical-sized perovskite/silicon tandem cells and the panels that would accept them.
