Should the direct current capacity of power stations be oversized?

With the fall in the price of solar panels in recent years, it can be advantageous to oversize the DC capacity of photovoltaic power plants.

Solar photovoltaic installations have long been designed using a standard DC/AC ratio of 1.2. A number of papers have recently begun to re-examine this issue and, in recent years, an increasing number of installations have been built with higher ratios. On the basis of economics alone, it is closer to 1.6 or even higher.
