New location for PV plants, motorway verges

If PV panels were placed on the sides of motorways, energy production in Germany could reach 200 TWH per year. This compares with the country's current electricity consumption of

560 TWh. With the gradual electrification of mobility and heating, it is estimated that in 2050, 2,400 TWh of electricity will be consumed per year. The study assumes that 1,000 TWh will also be produced in Germany. The area required for this would occupy 2.5% of the federal territory, which is three times the size of Saarland.

Editor's note Obviously, all possible solutions are being sought to find new locations for power plants. Once all the possible ideas have been tested, we will come back to the common sense idea of installing production at the place of consumption, i.e. at home.
