Further progress in the stability of perovskite cells

The American NREL has discovered that a perovskite-tin-lead cell can improve its stability and increase its efficiency. Their latest experiment

gave a conversion efficiency of 25.5%.

The new cell, which is a tandem design with two layers of perovskite, retained 80% of its maximum efficiency after 1,500 hours of continuous operation, or more than 62 days.

The authors of the study estimate that a tandem perovskite cell, in which two layers are joined to capture slightly different slices of the solar spectrum, can have an efficiency of more than 30%.
