Germany's Wacker Chemie has launched the feasibility study for a further expansion of silicon metal production capacity at its Holla plant near Trondheim, Norway. The aim is to

Editor's note This project shows that Wacker's horizon is brightening. Even the Chinese are looking for its silicon because it is not suspected of using forced labour.

Qcells is to build a new solar panel production plant with a capacity of 1.7 GW close to its current plant in Georgia (USA). It will come on stream in the first half of 2023, bringing total capacity to more than 3 GW.

China's Geely Automotive has announced that its first silicon manufacturing plant has started production in Gucheng, Hebei province. The plant currently has an annual capacity of 2,000 metric tonnes (MT) and is expected to reach 52,000 MT by the end of the year.
