India invests in new technologies

CubicPV is the result of a merger between US wafer producer 1366 Technologies and Hunt Perovskite Technologies (HPT). CubicPV has established a 2 GW plant

of wafers produced directly from a silicon melt.

India's Waaree has placed an order for one GW of silicon cells from CubicPV's plant. CubicPV is one of the few foreign beneficiaries of India's recently expanded Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) programme, which aims to encourage domestic PV manufacturing.

Editor's note: Korea's Hanwha has dropped its support for cast silicon wafers. An Indian still believes in it and is ready to encourage this innovation which on paper has a lot of interest and would considerably lower the cost of production.
