The UK government is reducing VAT on residential photovoltaics and heat pumps to 0%. The new measure will come into force on1 April 2022, and will be in place for five years. The aim is to encourage households to invest in such equipment.

Belgium has decided to reduce VAT on photovoltaic systems and heat pumps installed on buildings constructed within the last ten years to 6%. This measure previously applied only to projects developed on buildings more than ten years old. The new measure will come into force on1 April 2022.

The Dutch government has made €13 billion available for its 2022 incentive programme for sustainable energy production and climate transition (SDE++). It will now finance green hydrogen projects linked to a wind or solar farm.

The SDE++ is designed to encourage companies and non-profit institutions to reduce their emissions by granting subsidies to renewable energy or carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.

The Netherlands has installed 3.3 GW of solar power by 2021, bringing the country's capacity to 14 GW.
