TotalEnergies acquires the Commercial and Industrial business of its subsidiary, SunPower

TotalEnergies is buying the Commercial and Industrial Solutions (CIS) business of its subsidiary, US solar installer SunPower, for $250 million. This will expand

its presence in the distributed generation sector in the United States and to develop more than 100 MW of additional capacity per year.

In the space of a few years, SunPower has sold its solar panel production business to Maxeon, sold its operations and maintenance business in 2020, and is focusing on residential rooftop solar installation.

For TotalEnergies, the acquisition of CIS expands its distributed generation business, which currently has almost 500 MW in operation worldwide. It is aiming for 4 GW in the United States by 2025.

At the time of its annual accounts, TotalEnergies announced that it wanted to add 6 GW of gross renewable energy capacity this year, bringing its total to 16 GW.
