US energy technology company AES has completed the construction or acquisition of 643 MW of renewable energy and energy storage in the last 12 months. Year to date,
AES signed 4 GW of new PPAs, bringing its backlog to 9.2 GW. It has increased its overall target for 2021 to 5 GW: 2.6 GW are under construction and 6.6 GW under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
In November 2020, AES merged its US clean energy development business with independent power producer sPower, creating a 12 GW project pipeline in the country.
