TCO-free heterojunction silicon solar cell

Scientists at the German research centre Forschungszentrum Juelich GmbH have produced a heterojunction silicon solar cell without transparent conducting oxide (TCO)

to the front contact. With a surface area of 4 cm² (2 cm x 2 cm), it achieved an efficiency of 22%.
