India is still highly dependent on PV imports.

The cessation of Chinese exports in February due to the pandemic has already prompted India to strengthen its will to increase its independence in the production of cells and panels. 85% of the cells and panels are imported. The calls for tenders which impose Indian products have not been successful or have suffered repeated delays. However, India has commissioned a production capacity of nearly 16 GW in 2018 and only 1.5 GW last year.
