Melting the snow on the panels in winter
The Norwegian company Innos has developed a process to melt snow on PV panels to avoid excessive weight. A system for weighing the weight of the snow
is connected to low-power direct current (DC) power supplies. When the weight reaches a certain level, the battery switches on and heats up the panels. This clears the snow and allows the panels to resume operation. The system would be capable of melting 2 kg of snow per square metre per hour.
