Upcoming construction of a 105 MWp floating power plant in India
India has awarded Tata Power Solar the construction of a 70 MW-ac / 105 MWp floating power plant in the state of Kerala (south-west India)
Other floating power plants
were awarded this year by NTPC in Telangana (100 MW) and Himachal Pradesh (15 MW); SECI is considering a 10 GW pipeline over three years and launched a tender for a 250 MW unit in Tamil Nadu in March.
In 2018, India was designated by the World Bank as the cheapest floating PV market in the world (with a price between $0.83 and $0.92/MW), while Japan was the most expensive at $3.12 per megawatt. 1.1 GW of floating capacity had been installed worldwide by November 2018.
