American companies are increasing their purchases of solar energy.
The portfolio of subcontracted projects currently stands at 37.9 GW. Electricity companies still account for more than half of the contracted projects (53%). The share of companies is steadily increasing and accounts for 17% of the projects announced in 2019 according to Wood Mackenzie. In 2016, companies contributed 10% of new solar additions with 1 GW of projects.
RE projects provide energy at lower cost than the grid.
