Soon, single-sided panels will be obsolete
JinkoSolar believes that single-sided panels will soon be outdated. They will be reserved for residential use. The narrowing price gap between two-sided and single-sided panels is encouraging developers to choose the two-sided. The more the two-sided technology will impose itself on the market,
the more costs will fall to become competitive with the monofacial, which will have a significant impact on financial models. The bifacial generation is an incremental improvement with proven technology. It takes much more time to accumulate sufficient data to model validation and bankability measures.
Land availability is another factor in the rapid adoption of bifacial products. It was recently boosted in the United States by President Trump's exemption from Section 201 duties on solar products manufactured in the Far East.
