The Greek photovoltaic market is set to take off,

The Greek photovoltaic market is said to be on the verge of taking off, boosted by growing demand from businesses for power purchase agreements (PPAs) and by the European Union's (EU) clean energy policies.

By 2021, Greece has more than tripled its annual PV deployment from 500 MW to 1.6 GW, according to SolarPower Europe (SPE). The country now has a pipeline of solar projects of up to 85 GW.

This year, Mytilineos aims to develop and build between 1.6 GW and 2 GW of solar photovoltaic projects worldwide.

Editor's note If Italy and Spain have developed their photovoltaic installations considerably, it is hard to see why those in Greece should lag behind, as there is a considerable amount of sunshine in all three countries. Private contracts between users and producers of solar energy are powerful drivers for the installation of new solar power plants.
