German equipment manufacturers in the third quarter
In the first three quarters of 2018, the German solar equipment manufacturers of the VDMA association increased their sales by 41 per cent compared to the previous year.
In the third quarter, 77% of equipment was delivered in Asia (including China 52%), 10% in Europe and 9% in Germany. Sales were mainly in cells (48%) and thin films (47%).
German manufacturers estimate that orders will remain unchanged in 2019 because the Chinese government gave priority to the quality of the installations to the detriment of quantity on 31 May. However, this decision halved equipment orders during the third quarter compared with the second quarter

Editor's note: Usually, the VDMA presents figures for the last quarter only. To flatter the picture, it presented deliveries for the first three quarters. Similarly, it avoids mentioning the loss of market share by the Germans to the benefit of the Chinese equipment manufacturers who supply the sector for furnaces, wafer manufacturing and panel assembly .
