SolarEdge: combining inverters with lithium batteries

Israeli inverter manufacturer Solaredge Technologies to acquire a stake in the company

a majority stake (75%) in Kokam, a South Korean supplier of lithium-ion battery cells for energy storage, emergency power and electric vehicles.

Several acquisitions are taking place in the inverter/battery manufacturing sector to make solar installations smarter and more beneficial.

SolarEdge acquires Kokam for $88 million. This battery manufacturer is the world's No. 5 and has installed 232 MW. Its lithium-polymer batteries are also used in submarines and on the Impulse 2 solar aeroplane.
