Inverter manufacturers in the first half of the year

In the first half of the year, the world's top three suppliers of inverters remained unchanged from last year. They are in the order

Huawei, Sungrow and SMA. On the other hand, Ingeteam reaches the 4th place against the 18th place in 2017, which is due to its important deliveries in South America, the Middle East and Africa. Half-yearly deliveries exceeded 55 GW (ac), up 2% in 2017 (compared with +23% in 2017 over 2016), despite the shutdown of Chinese facilities from 31 May. It is likely that the 2018 installations will exceed 100 GW.

For the first time, deliveries of three-phase string inverters exceeded sales of central inverters. This is partly the consequence of deliveries to China and also of the success of Huawei. GTM, which carried out the study, believes that this long-term trend will continue, and that it is a reflection of the sophistication of the market and the increasing power density of solar inverters. GTM expects string inverters to gain additional market share in the coming years, particularly in the United States and Latin America.

In the United States, SolarEdge has for the first time overtaken SMA to become the No. 1 in that country.
