Investors in American companies
U.S. and European utilities have invested $1 billion in 2016 in distributed energy companies. That's three times the amount invested in 2010; the cumulative amount invested reaches
2.9bn: Americans invested $1bn, Europeans invested $1.8bn.
40 companies have made such an investment, and ten of them have made at least five purchases. Five of the seven most active investors are based in Europe, but more North American companies made at least one investment: North American companies were more interested in distributed solar energy, while European companies invested more in heat and power.
